Halitosis or we call Bad Breathe can also be a major problem because it is part of our body’s hygiene, it can also be a shameful thing if you are cuddling with your sweetie and utter some sweet words with a disgusting smell after your tone. If you laugh around with your friends or whisper a joke, they might notice more about the smell of the air that comes out in your mouth rather than noticing your joke or expressions.

There are several causes why we have bad breath. If we don’t brush regularly especially after taking a meal or snack there will be a big percentage of having a bad breath after a few hours. The foods that were being crunched by our teeth will be left in our mouth and between our teeth and the sulfur compounds that are released by these bacteria will make our breath stink.

Garlic and Onions are the most foods that contributes bad odor because the pungent oils are carried to our lungs and out to our mouth. Smoking is a major cause of having a bad breath. There are also myths about bad breath that are not true like bad breath will go away if you gargle with mouth wash, you will not have a bad breath as long as you are brushing your teeth and you will know if your breath has an unpleasing odor if you blow in your hands and smell it.

Most of us usually brush our teeth for only 30 to 45 seconds which does not cut off bad breath. To effectively clean all the parts of your teeth including the tongue, you should brush it for at least 2 minutes and twice in a day or after meals. Flossing is also important because brushing alone will not remove food particles and harmful plaque that will stuck between your gums and teeth. Mouthwash can help you for a while; it can get rid of bad breath temporarily. If your bad breath persists even if you floss and brush properly and have a regular cleaning with your dentist, you may ask your family dentist or call your doctor if you suspect that there’s a problem and ask for recommendations on preventing your breath odor.

If you're concerned about your personal hygiene make sure you're taking care of your mouth and especially your teeth properly. Use some sugar-free mints and gums because they can temporarily mask odors.
